In a Portsmouth car accident involving two vehicles, one person is dead and another has been injured.

According to the authorities, the two vehicles, a Ford F150 and a Honda Accord, crashed near the intersection of Jacquelyn Drive and Portsmouth Boulevard. The accident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Detective Misty Holley stated that the driver of the Accord was killed in the accident. He has been identified as Talon Cohen, 17 years old.

Upon the arrival of the rescue workers, they found Cohen pinned inside the vehicle where he had suffered major injuries to the body. Portsmouth Medic Units would pronounce Cohen dead at the scene of the accident.

The passenger in the Accord was also injured in the accident. He was identified as Mark Parker. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the F150 suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

At this time, there have not been any charges filed due to the accident still being under investigation, according to Holly. The area where the accident occurred has been known for having traffic issues.

"It's 35 mph on Portsmouth Blvd., once you hit the bridge down the street it's 45mph. But this is also a school zone, and no one slows down to 25mph. I get frustrated traveling here every day. Drivers are also doing u-turns on Portsmouth Blvd. right outside the school," Tracey Belcher said, who lives on Jacquelyn Drive.

Holley added that the police haven’t had any major complaints regarding the area except for speeding. “Our traffic unit is really vigilant when it comes to school zones,” she stated.

The compassionate law team at Tavss Fletcher extends its sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Cohen.
