Store Clerk Shot Twice in Head During Robbery in Spotsylvania

The County Sheriff Department in Spotsylvania is calling on the community to help identify a robbery suspect who shot a Fas Mart clerk in the head twice on Saturday morning.

According to Captain Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s office, the robbery took place at the Fas Mart store at 11600 Brock Road in western Spotsylvania County off Route 3 near Locust Grove.

The early morning robbery took place at approximately 3 a.m.

The incident began as the suspect entered the store and acted as if he intended to buy some merchandise. The suspect waited for the clerk of the store to turn away before pulling out a handgun and firing at the her. The shots left the clerk lying on the floor.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise and fled the scene of the crime.

The store’s surveillance system captured the incident on camera.

The suspect has been described as a white male between the ages of 25 to 35. He is five feet, four inches to five feet, seven inches in height and weighs between 160 to 170 pounds. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a dark hoodie sweat shirt and jeans.

The suspect also has a black goatee on his chin, according to Pearce.

Emergency responders quickly took the 32-year-old female victim to Mary Washington Hospital emergency room and then was transported by air to the Medical College of Virginia trauma center in Richmond.

The victim’s condition has been listed as very serious.
