A Stafford County accident claimed the life of a Virginia grandmother. The Sunday accident involved six vehicles.
The accident took place at approximately 6:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 17 about a mile north of Route 634.

According to the authorities, A Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Myron L. Vaughn, 49, of Stafford, sideswiped three other vehicles. The three vehicles, as well as the Ford, were traveling in the northbound lanes.
Eye witnesses stated that they saw Vaughn traveling approximately 60 to 70 mph while weaving in and out of traffic.
One of the vehicles, a Volvo station wagon driven by Sue Ann Collins, 50, crossed the median and overturned in the southbound lanes. Collins was thrown from her vehicle and struck by another pickup that was traveling in the southbound lanes.
Vaughn continued off the road where she struck a tree. Collins’ husband was on his way home from Target when the accident occurred. He came up on backed up traffic and got an eerie feeling.
“She was just a saintly woman that would do anything for anybody. She was the love of my life,” Blake said. “I just keep praying and dealing with it the best I can.”
One of their grandchildren was with Sue Ann Collins at the time of the accident. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Vaughn was also taken to a local hospital.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
According to authorities, Vaughn collided with the first vehicle approximately a mile before colliding with the three other vehicles. The sixth vehicle involved was a pickup that was damaged by debris from the crash.
