If you were one of the unlucky motorists ticketed on Interstate 66 or 64 in Virginia you are not alone. All told well over 2,000 people were either ticketed or arrested during a targeted traffic safety campaign by Virginia State Police.
Though the bulk of the citations came from speeding violations there were also quite a few motorists ticketed or arrested for reckless driving, drunk driving and drug offences or felonies.
The state troopers chose to focus their efforts on I66 an I64. These main roads through the state are all too often the scene of serious, even deadly accidents. Though police believe that the mass ticketing campaigns improve the safety of Virginians, others question the fairness of such aggressive police tactics. What do you think?
If you believe that you have been unfairly arrested or ticketed please contact your Norfolk and Virginia Beach criminal law attorneys at Tavss Fletcher today for your free consultation.
