If you bought a defective home, you are more than disappointed: you are angry, and rightfully so. But what can you do about it? Is there someone you can sue? The home inspector? The sellers? The contractor who built the house?

The answer to all of these questions is: Maybe. Without knowing the particulars of your case it is impossible to determine if someone is at fault for selling you a defective home. However, as experienced Virginia Beach real estate lawyers, we can say that if you are at all suspicious that someone misled you in the purchase of your home, you have the right to speak with an attorney.

Knowing Your Rights as a Home Buyer

There are several legal options for those who have bought a home, only to discover that the house has major flaws or defects. Some of the more serious of these flaws and defects include:
  • Infestation of termites
  • Extensive water damage
  • Mold
  • Structural damage
  • Faulty foundation
  • Gas leaks
  • Dangerous fireplace
  • Faulty siding or roofing

We could go on and on, listing the types of dangerous, undisclosed problems we have seen. However, what matters is this: if the seller of your home intentionally tried to hide serious damage or flaws in the house, there is a chance he or she can be held liable. An experienced Virginia residential law attorney can hold the seller accountable for your defective Virginia home. A successful lawsuit or settlement means that you can get money you need to pay for repairing the damages to your home.

You do not have to "suck it up" and pay for costly repairs to your new home. Please call an experienced, aggressive Virginia Beach real estate lawyer at 757.625.1214 to schedule your FREE consultation. Unlike your home, your anger may have a good foundation; please call today.

Thanks for sharing this. When I had a termite problem on my property, I had to look up different methods of termite control, and I have found that using chemicals is one of the better options in my opinion. I used it in and around my house after I found that there were a lot of small holes that I missed. I have now learned that you have to do regular inspections of your property so that I don’t have that type of problem again, and that is something that you should do before getting a piece of property.
